[From Facebook] Cole Hruska is a very talented 15 year old singer/songwriter and guitar player from Calgary, Alberta. His music is fun, upbeat and full of life, very much like Cole himself. At 10 years old, Cole picked up a guitar and has been writing his own songs and sharing his musical passion with everyone he meets. His musical resume is already impressive having released his first extended play EP of his original music in April 2012 and has been busy recording original songs for his follow up CD in Calgary, Vancouver and Nashville, Tennessee for the past 6 months. He got his start performing with Calgary’s renowned Young Canadians, he has starred in musical theatre including his role of Finn in his high school musical “Glee” in the fall of 2012, and showcased his vocal talents in numerous competitions like the Calgary Stampede Talent search and as a finalist in Calgary Junior Idol. In the summer of 2012, Cole won “The Fan Favorite Award” at the prestigious Calgary Stampede Talent Search.
In December 2012, his original Christmas single entitled “Christmas Tonight” was picked up by nine FM radio stations across Canada. He is planning the radio release of his upcoming single “Over and Over” in April 2013. Both songs were co-written by one of Canada’s top singer/songwriters Andrew Allen who has enjoyed three top 10 hits in Canada since 2010. Andrew described Cole on the website “WBD:Were a Big Deal” as follows “the guy’s got an infectious personality and is so incredibly positive that I have no doubt he’s gonna become a very big deal!”.
Cole has opened several times for his musical mentor and friend, Calgary’s latest rising star Michael Bernard Fitzgerald. Cole has been fortunate to work with and learn from a number of powerhouse producers. Juno award winning producer Josh Gwilliam of Pilot Audio in Calgary (who has worked with various artists including George Canyon & the Road Hammers) recorded Cole’s first EP. Vancouver based Jeff Dawson (Daniel Powter, The Dudes) and Nashville’s Jimmy Dulin (Jaron & The Long Road) have worked along with Josh on tracks for Cole’s upcoming CD.
Cole has honed his skills under the tutelage of one of Calgary’s best vocal coaches, Brian Farrell. Cole has performed in various venues in Calgary such as the Boyce Theatre (Calgary Stampede), The Theatre Junction Grand, The Ironwood and the 4th Spot and numerous private corporate and charity functions. Cole believes in giving back and last year raised money for the children’s charity “Kidsport” through his annual fundraiser “#shakeatthelake” in Vernon BC. A highlight of 2012 for Cole was performing in YoUthtopia at the Bragg Creek Performing Arts Centre which supports young Alberta based musicians.
