[From Official Website] Combining acting with a distinguished career as a singer songwriter, Hugh Dillon first earned notoriety as the lead singer in the multi-platinum punk rock band, the Headstones. Signed to Universal Music in the early nineties, the band released six albums. It was early on in Headstones’ success when Hugh caught the attention of legendary filmmaker Bruce McDonald. Bruce cast Hugh in Dance Me Outside in 1994. Next came his critically acclaimed lead performance as Joe Dick in McDonald’s 1996 feature film, Hard Core Logo. Quentin Tarantino distributed the movie through his company and brought international attention to the indie classic and its lead actor.
The Gemini award winning actor has since starred in the critically acclaimed Sundance Film Festival award winning movie, Down To The Bone with Vera Farmiga (The Departed, Up in the Air), as well as notable roles in Feature Films Assault On Precinct 13, Trailer Park Boys, Of Murder and Memory and Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning.
Hugh’s ability to capture honest and realistic portrayals of complicated characters has been his calling card. In 2007 he began his starring role as Mike Sweeney in the dark and twisted serial Durham County. His performance as Ed Lane in the CBS/ION and CTV co-production Flashpoint, in its fifth season of production, is his first step across the border in network primetime.
Dillon has leveraged his extensive film and television experience to write thought-provoking scripts and produce sought after short films. His most recent project, Issues, which he collaborated on with fellow Flashpoint cast member Enrico Colantoni, premiered at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival.
Never straying far from his roots, Hugh has also brought his music with him to film and television. His musical contributions have been included in all seasons of both Flashpoint and Durham County. 2012 sees Dillon back in the studio with the Headstones to record a new album, following their acclaimed return to the stage in 2011.
